It's not enough to succeed. Others must fail.

Gore Vidal

I went to school at the Heinzenwies Gymnasium in Idar-Oberstein and passed my Abitur there in summer 1997.

I have been the chairman of the class representatives committee (vulgo: KV-Sprecher), a job that resulted in an insurmountable disgust for each and every political engagement ;-).

I have been involved in our school newspaper, the Heinzenvoice, for a few years, too. This resulted in a few clashes with our school's headmaster (to be seen on the small picture below), so to speak. But then, you had off-class time rather often. (At least I was rewarded a book for it in the end.)

These clashes were nil in comparison to what happened after the Abitur magazine, the Horrorkabinett!®, hit public. (Together with my classmate Barbara Aul, we formed the editorial board.)
After we had published a rather meek article about the headmaster as far as the Heinzenvoice was concerned, the rest of our grade staged un coup d'état (parce que l'état, c'est moi), stating that they had nothing to do with our "king's murder" by attempting to write a counter-statement.
This eventually became a mere list of names (inofficially only called "The List") which was published together with the Horrorkabinett!®.

To make a long story short: Now, me and my co-editor Barbara Aul are "personae non gratae" (whatever the correct latin plural may be :-).

C'est la vie.
