1999 The story of this project is somewhat strange, and I don't remember all its facets.

It began at some point in the fifth semester (end of 1999).
I believe (which translates to the German "ich glaube, ..." :-) that Anne came up with an idea of a program like "Die Siedler", only that the simulated people should have real lives. This means that when exiting the program, their states should be saved and the next time the program would be started, the "missing time" should be quickly simulated in fast-forward so that the user would have the impression of a continuous timeline.

Thus, you would have a true parallel world. Or at least a simulated one :-). Soon, however, the idea occured to us that the people could worship us as King. And this was the First Step towards the Downfall of

King@Home

We settled on a somewhat stripped-down version of the program (text-based) in which you would have only one person worshipping you, The King, all the time.
The interface would have looked like this:

Mensch: Ommmm... ommmm... wir huldigen Dir, oh König!

SYSTEM>> Noch einmal huldigen [ja/nein]? _

Later, we thought that the King (or God (or User)) could have even more power: He could walk around and have children who would be worshipped after the King's death!

Untergebene: Ihr habt gerade eine Frau aus dem Volke prallegemacht, oh König!

SYSTEM>> Noch eine Frau aus dem Volke prallemachen [ja/nein]? _

(As you can imagine, this project didn't get off the ground. Oh, and one thing more: Don't think bad of me. After all, it wasn't only my idea!)
