Evolutionary Development

This can hardly be called breaking news. In fact, this issue has been hardly developing. After something like two years growth, the plants inhabiting the ash trays in our smoke-free corridor look like this:

The last two grow in the men's restroom, above the urinals.

Breaking News: Fire

As we speak, the events are unfolding at the GSP off-campus UBT site... fire sirens blaring, a fire fighter squad with at least two fire engines being deployed across GSP...

Well. That's it.
News finished. Nothing more to tell.

Seems some bogus fire alarm has gone off. PJS, in a sudden flash of presence of mind, grabbed all Grundlagen-der-Robotik students homeworks he was just marking, and joined the masses fleeing the GSP. Fleeing is maybe too dramatic a word for the slow wave of a few colleagues reluctanctly walking down the stairs, being watched by several others from their doorways, including an Arts professor cold-bloodedly keeping his place, and a cleaning lady going about her restroom-cleaning business.

While some decided that this is a good time to go home, anyway, others returned to their offices, their chairs barely gone cold.

All in all, a hardly emotional experience.
The somewhat disoriented fire squad still seems to be lurching around GSP, looking for a fire.

OverTime 1.0

Finally, the OverTime project is finished. At least finished enough to be presentable in full.

The leftmost is chiming, the rightmost is ticking, they get 3V mains power, and are fixed on a heavy-duty surgical steel bar.

Palm Zombies

A year ago (or so I reckon), I acquired what can only be called a graveyard full of old Palm handhelds. One Palm III, two Palm IIIe, and two IBM Workpads. They are the building blocks of a completely overkill-sized wall clock, the minimum configuration of which (HH-MM) can be seen here.

They click for seconds (only the one in the possible SS configuration, or S2), chime for hours (only the HH one, or H2), and can sychronize time via IR.
Now I'm waiting for a batch of sockets, plugs, and an adapter before mounting them on the wall.

N-Z? Z-N??

Well, I adore this girl. Or rather, her blogging side.

One less academically nerdy, but nonetheless (or even more, for that matter) glimpse into some intellectually introspective, interculturally attentive, and (bla bla bla)... Forget my puny attempts at commenting. Read Zombie Therapy; and stick to your seat. Don't laugh out loud if at work.
