Practical Natural Language Processing

An Introductory Overview

0 - Table Of Contents

Carefully approaching the field from the basics, we will first develop a notion of what communication, signs, language and meaning are and how they cling together. Then, we will formalize language by means of grammars and introduce it into systems that try to make a sense of texts. After presenting the intricacies of technical implementations, we finally look at how to attempt to extract the intended message from the text we are given.
